Unauthenticated root code execution via malicious IODD upload
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Command injection in affected IO-Link masters before 1.7.4 allows remote attackers to execute uploaded shell scripts with root privileges. The IODD upload path accepts a crafted device-description file and places its embedded shell script where the firmware executes it as root. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the installed script remains active after the device reboots.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
