Private-message metadata disclosure via tag-filter SQL injection
Published Feb 26, 2026 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
SQL injection in Discourse before 2025.12.2, 2026.1.1, or 2026.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to read private-message metadata. list_private_messages_tag places externally influenced tag-filter input into an SQL command without neutralizing query syntax, so crafted predicates bypass intended filter conditions. Any logged-in user can reach the network flaw; the reported consequence is unauthorized private-message metadata disclosure, not message modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
