Out-of-sandbox file writes via targetDir traversal
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Path traversal in OpenClaw before 2026.2.15 allows local users to write files outside the skill tools directory during installation. The download installer resolves the targetDir value from skill frontmatter without strictly confining the resulting path to the per-skill tools root. Reaching the flaw requires the admin-only skills.install flow; writes run with the OpenClaw process account's filesystem permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
