Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized name parameter
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Command injection in luci-app-https-dns-proxy before 2026-01-17 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The setInitAction function in /usr/libexec/rpcd/luci.https-dns-proxy passes the attacker-controlled name parameter unsanitized to eval, so shell metacharacters become commands. Exploitation requires a LuCI account with the luci-app-https-dns-proxy ACL and yields root-level command execution on the OpenWrt device.
