Arbitrary command execution via thumbnail parameters
Published Mar 25, 2026 · Updated Mar 25, 2026
OS command injection in thumbler 1.1.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through crafted thumbnail parameters. The thumbnail() function concatenates input, output, time, and size values into an ffmpeg shell string passed to child_process.exec() without neutralizing shell syntax. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled parameter values into the library; commands run with the application's host privileges.
