Unauthenticated service crash via malformed DAAP metadata
Published Mar 23, 2026 · Updated Mar 23, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in owntone-server commit 3d1652d allows remote attackers to crash the service via a crafted DAAP request. In src/httpd_daap.c, parse_meta miscounts comma-separated meta values and leaves NULL array entries that daap_reply_playlists dereferences. An unauthenticated network client can reach the DAAP endpoint and terminate the server process, interrupting music service without disclosed data access or modification.
