Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized upgrade parameters
Published Mar 12, 2026 · Updated Mar 12, 2026
Command injection in GL-iNet GL-AR300M16 4.3.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through JSON-RPC. The set_upgrade handler concatenates seven request parameters into a command string and passes it to /bin/sh -c without neutralizing shell metacharacters. A valid administrator token is required by the published request, and successful exploitation runs commands with root privileges, enabling full device compromise.
