Remote service crash via unchecked URI_PATH pointer
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Null pointer dereference in the ccoap CoAP server allows remote attackers to crash the service via a crafted URI_PATH option. The coap_server_handle_session() function passes each URI_PATH data pointer to strncmp() while searching for the "separate" path without rejecting NULL values. A network-reachable server that parses the malformed option terminates with a segmentation fault, interrupting service without reported data exposure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Published CVSS scores
No CVSS assessment is available in this record.
CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
