Process crash via invalid CoAP option numbers
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Denial of service in ccoap allows attackers to crash the process by supplying a CoAP message containing invalid option numbers. The option parsing logic fails to reject an invalid option number before processing it, causing an invalid memory access and segmentation fault. Reachability depends on an application passing attacker-controlled CoAP traffic to the parser; the demonstrated consequence is process termination only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
