Local system crash via invalid CLFS read
Published Feb 25, 2026 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Denial of service in Microsoft Windows before 25H2 allows local users to crash the system by reading from an opened CLFS log file. CLFS!CClfsRequest::ReadLogPagingIo mishandles a ReadFile request on a CreateLogFile handle when both expected IRP flags are clear and calls KeBugCheckEx. Low-privilege local access is sufficient; the result is an immediate operating-system crash without data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
