Remote code execution via static ViewState keys
Published Feb 13, 2026 · Updated Feb 13, 2026
Remote code execution in Calero VeraSMART before 2022 R1 allows remote attackers to execute code through a forged ASP.NET ViewState. The web.config file installs static ASP.NET machineKey values, so IIS accepts an attacker-signed ViewState and deserializes its payload. Exploitation requires access to the shared keys and network reachability to the IIS application, yielding code execution in its process context.
