CVE-2026-26265Network attack vector

Unauthenticated private-field disclosure via unfiltered directory IDs

Published Feb 26, 2026 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Incorrect authorization in Discourse before 2025.12.2, 2026.1.1, and 2026.2.0 allows remote attackers to read private user fields. DirectoryItemsController#index accepts arbitrary user_field_ids and builds the directory custom-field map without filtering them through UserField.public_fields. Anonymous access to an enabled user directory is sufficient to retrieve each requested private field value for every listed user in bulk.
