Root escalation via insecure temporary-directory handling
Published Feb 12, 2026 · Updated Feb 12, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Intego Log Reporter 10.9.x and earlier allows local users to gain root access via a symlink race. The root-run idiagnose script recreates a predictable directory under /tmp, resolves it, then copies attacker-controlled Firefox profile data without securing the path against replacement. Exploitation requires a local unprivileged account and Log Reporter execution; winning the race writes a chosen file into a privileged directory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
