Stored XSS via permissive citation iframe sandbox
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Stored XSS in Open WebUI before 0.7.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts when a victim previews a crafted citation. CitationModal.svelte trusts a user-set metadata.html flag and assigns the document body to iframe srcdoc with scripts and same-origin enabled. An authenticated attacker must alter saved chat history and induce another user to open the source and select the document, enabling session-token theft.
