Local privilege escalation via path traversal
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Path traversal in Confidential containers on Azure Container Instances allows local users with high privileges to elevate their privileges. Azure Compute Gallery accepts the noncanonical '.../...//' traversal sequence, but Microsoft has not disclosed the affected operation or target path. Exploitation requires local access and high privileges and can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability within the hosted service.
