Temporary password disclosure via syslog logging
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Sensitive information exposure in vulnerable TanOS 1.8.4, 1.8.5, and 1.8.6 builds allows attackers to read reset passwords from syslog. The password-reset workflow writes a TanOS user's temporary password to syslog output instead of withholding the credential from logs. Exploitation requires access to that output after a reset and before the user's first successful login; exposure is limited to the temporary password.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.8.4 <1.8.4.0249
- Affected versionversion=1.8.5 <1.8.5.0282
