Process crash via unchecked missing URRID
Published Feb 24, 2026 · Updated Feb 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in free5GC SMF 1.4.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the process with a malformed PFCP report. SMContext.HandleReports reads report.URRID.UrrIdValue without checking whether the mandatory URRID sub-IE exists in a USAR UsageReport. The attacker needs network access to UDP port 8805 and a valid session with an established UPF association; successful exploitation terminates session management for the 5G core.
Summary
What happened
NULL pointer dereference in free5GC SMF 1.4.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the process with a malformed PFCP report. SMContext.HandleReports reads report.URRID.UrrIdValue without checking whether the mandatory URRID sub-IE exists in a USAR UsageReport. The attacker needs network access to UDP port 8805 and a valid session with an established UPF association; successful exploitation terminates session management for the 5G core.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
