Stored XSS via unrestricted data URI links
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Stored XSS in Gogs before 0.14.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted issue content. The sanitizer in internal/markup/sanitizer.go permits data:text/html links from raw HTML anchors instead of restricting data URIs to safe image types. Exploitation requires an authenticated account and a victim to click the stored link, after which the script runs in that victim's browser context.
