CVE-2026-26007Network attack vector

Key disclosure and forgery via unchecked SECT points

Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026

Subgroup validation failure in cryptography before 46.0.5 allows remote attackers to expose private-key bits through malicious SECT public keys. The EC public-key constructors and DER/PEM loaders accept cofactor-greater-than-one points without checking membership in the curve's prime-order subgroup. Applications must process attacker-controlled SECT keys; ECDH then leaks private-key residues, while ECDSA accepts signatures forged within the small subgroup.
