CVE-2026-25987Network attack vector

Memory disclosure via undersized MAP pixel packets

Published Feb 24, 2026 · Updated Feb 24, 2026

Heap buffer over-read in ImageMagick before 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 allows remote attackers to disclose memory via crafted MAP files. ReadMAPImage derives a one-byte packet size from a depth of eight or less, yet reads a second palette-index byte when the MAP header declares more than 256 colors. Processing an attacker-supplied MAP file is the gate; the read can expose adjacent heap data, with no supported integrity impact.
