LFS object overwrite via unverified content hashes
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Data integrity violation in Gogs before 0.14.2 allows remote attackers to overwrite cross-repository LFS objects via crafted uploads. LocalStorage.Upload writes content to a global path keyed only by the claimed object ID, without including the repository or verifying the SHA-256 digest. A malicious upload can replace LFS content referenced by other repositories, causing downstream users to retrieve attacker-controlled files.
