Unauthorized restricted component updates via skipped permission checks
Published Feb 17, 2026 · Updated Feb 17, 2026
Missing authorization in Apache NiFi 1.1.0 through 2.7.2 allows remote authenticated users to alter restricted component properties. Framework update paths enforce general component write access but fail to evaluate the Restricted annotation and its Required Permissions for an existing extension component. A more privileged user must first add the component, and only deployments with distinct Restricted-component authorization levels are exposed; a lower-privileged user can then change policy-protected properties.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
