Crash via invalid YUV sampling factor
Published Feb 24, 2026 · Updated Feb 24, 2026
Divide-by-zero in ImageMagick before 6.9.13-40 and 7.0.0 through 7.1.2-14 allows remote attackers to crash image-processing applications. ReadYUVImage in coders/yuv.c accepts an invalid YUV sampling factor because validation logic lets it pass, then uses the value as a divisor while loading the image. No authentication or interaction is required when a network-exposed application processes attacker-supplied YUV data; only process availability is affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
