Service crash via destroyed image-info dereference
Published Feb 24, 2026 · Updated Feb 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in ImageMagick before 6.9.13-40 and 7.0.0 through 7.1.2-14 allows remote attackers to crash image-processing services. ReadSFWImage in coders/sfw.c destroys read_info after temporary-file creation fails, then accesses its filename member and dereferences NULL. Reaching the fault requires SFW decoding and a temporary-file creation failure; the documented consequence is a process crash without data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
