CVE-2026-25792Public exploit

Local code execution via explorer.exe search-order hijacking

Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026

Untrusted search path handling in Greenshot 1.3.312 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code through explorer.exe hijacking. The tray-icon double-click handler launches explorer.exe by relative name to open the latest screenshot directory, allowing Windows search order to select an attacker-controlled executable. An attacker must first place explorer.exe in an earlier searched directory and wait for user interaction; successful execution inherits the application's security context.
