Authenticated SQL injection via unvalidated prescription sorting
Published Feb 25, 2026 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
SQL injection in OpenEMR before 8.0.0 allows remote authenticated users with prescription access to read sensitive database data. The prescription list passes the user-controlled sort parameter to prescriptions_factory(), which appends it to ORDER BY after ineffective escaping. Standard patients/rx permission suffices; demonstrated boolean-based queries extract account credentials without user interaction.
