Arbitrary file write via UIPlugin path traversal
Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026
Path traversal in SUSE Rancher Extensions allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files through a malicious UIPlugin deployment. The compressedEndpoint value is used to create a cached extension file without rejecting ../ sequences or confining the resolved path to the cache directory. Extension deployment requires an administrator by default, and a successful write can replace Rancher files, alter cluster state, or reach a host filesystem when hostPath volumes are mounted.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.10.11 <2.11.13
- Affected versionversion=2.12.0 <2.12.9
