CVE-2026-25524Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via PHAR image paths

Published Apr 20, 2026 · Updated Apr 20, 2026

PHAR deserialization in OpenMage LTS before 20.17.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted image paths. Image validation and media code passes attacker-influenced phar:// paths to getimagesize(), file_exists(), is_readable(), or Varien_Image adapters, causing PHP to deserialize archive metadata. Exploitation requires uploading a malicious image-PHAR polyglot and making the application process it through a phar:// path; successful gadget-chain execution compromises the application host.
