Authenticated command execution via Yii2 behavior injection
Published Feb 9, 2026 · Updated Feb 9, 2026
Remote code execution in Craft CMS 4.0.0-RC1 through 4.16.17 and 5.0.0-RC1 through 5.8.21 allows remote authenticated users to run commands. Fields::assembleLayoutFromPost decodes the fieldLayout POST value and passes it to Craft::createObject without cleanseConfig, allowing an as-prefixed Yii2 behavior to invoke a configured command callback after validation. Administrator access to the control panel is required; successful exploitation executes arbitrary system commands with the web server process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
