Authenticated SQL injection via unsanitized orderBy criteria
Published Feb 9, 2026 · Updated Feb 9, 2026
SQL injection in Craft CMS 4.0.0-RC1 through 4.16.17 and 5.0.0-RC1 through 5.8.21 allows remote authenticated users to alter SQL queries. ElementIndexesController::elementQuery passes request-supplied criteria[orderBy] through Craft::configure into the query instead of removing the SQL-shaping attribute. Control Panel access and a valid session are required; a crafted ORDER BY expression supports blind data extraction and database modification or destruction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
