CVE-2026-2543Network attack vector

Moderator account takeover via unverified password change

Published Feb 16, 2026 · Updated Feb 16, 2026

Unverified password change in vichan 5.1.0 through 5.1.5 allows remote authenticated users to replace the active moderator password. The handler in inc/mod/pages.php writes a new password hash when the session user ID matches the target ID, without checking the current password or re-authenticating the session. A valid moderator session with password-change permission is required; exploitation makes a compromised session persistent by replacing that moderator's credential.
