Subscriber-level plugin updates via missing capability check
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Bookly's updateAddon function through 27.2 allows remote authenticated users to update WordPress plugins. The function initiates updates without checking the caller's capabilities and accepts any plugin whose main file is named main.php. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to replace matching installed plugins with their latest repository versions, modifying site code and potentially interrupting plugin operation.
