Host file disclosure via license-path traversal
Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026
Path traversal in Chainguard melange 0.14.0 through 0.40.2 allows attackers to read arbitrary host files via crafted build configurations. LicensingInfos joins copyright[].license-path to the workspace without rejecting parent-directory segments, then embeds the file contents as SBOM license text. An attacker must influence a configuration processed by a CI or build service, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the melange process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
