CVE-2026-25143

Host command execution via unquoted patch inputs

Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026

OS command injection in Chainguard melange 0.10.0 through 0.40.2 allows attackers to execute commands on build hosts via patch inputs. The built-in pkg/build/pipelines/patch.yaml pipeline embeds series paths, patch filenames, and numeric parameters into shell scripts without quoting or validation. Exploitation requires control of patch-related configuration or CI inputs and runs commands with the melange build process's privileges.
