CVE-2026-25122

Process slowdown via unbounded gzip stream drain

Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Chainguard apko allows attackers to slow or time out a process by supplying a crafted APK stream. expandapk.Split reads the first tar header and then drains the gzip reader with io.Copy to io.Discard without an uncompressed-byte bound or inflate-ratio cap. Exploitation requires a caller to parse attacker-controlled input, and the affected range starts at 0.14.8 and ends before 1.1.0.
