CVE-2026-25063

Code execution via unsanitized Bash completion descriptions

Published Jan 29, 2026 · Updated Jan 29, 2026

Command injection in Gradle, Inc. gradle-completion 9.3.0 and earlier allows local users to execute code through Bash tab completion. The Bash script places untrusted task names and descriptions from Gradle output into array-building command substitutions, causing backtick-delimited text to be evaluated by the shell. Execution requires a user to enter an attacker-controlled project and invoke Bash completion; Zsh completion is not affected.
