Username enumeration via authentication timing oracle
Published Jan 30, 2026 · Updated Jan 30, 2026
Timing side channel in Vendure before 3.5.3 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid account email addresses through login requests. The NativeAuthenticationStrategy.authenticate method returns immediately for an unknown user but performs a 200–400 ms bcrypt verification for an existing one. No credentials or user interaction are required, and repeated response-time measurements disclose account existence without changing data or interrupting service.
