Authenticated command execution via expression sandbox escape
Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026
Expression sandbox escape in n8n before 1.123.17 and 2.0.0 through 2.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to run host commands. Expression defenses inspect member access but miss object-destructuring access to the Function constructor, allowing crafted expressions to reach Node.js child_process. Workflow creation or modification permission is required, and commands run with the n8n service process's host privileges.
