Authenticated command execution via PostgreSQL dump interpolation
Published Mar 9, 2026 · Updated Mar 9, 2026
OS command injection in Budibase 3.23.22 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through PostgreSQL settings. The PostgreSQL integration in packages/server/src/integrations/postgres.ts interpolates the password and other connection values directly into a shell command passed to pg_dump without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Control of database configuration values is required, and successful injection runs commands with the Budibase server process's privileges, enabling data access, modification, or service interruption.
