Authenticated SQL injection via unvalidated sort identifiers
Published Feb 25, 2026 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
SQL injection in OpenEMR before 8.0.0 allows remote authenticated users with API access to read and alter database data via _sort. The Patient REST route passes comma-split field names to SearchConfigClauseBuilder, which concatenates them into an ORDER BY clause without validation or identifier escaping. A valid OAuth2 bearer token and an enabled REST API are required; injected SQL can expose or modify clinical and credential data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
