Authenticated command execution via unquoted host-address macro
Published Apr 14, 2026 · Updated Apr 14, 2026
OS command injection in AVENDIS GmbH openITCOCKPIT before 5.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands. Host configuration inserts the user-controlled address into the $HOSTADDRESS$ command macro without validation, escaping, or quoting, and /bin/sh interprets embedded metacharacters. Host-management permission is required; successful exploitation runs commands as the monitoring-engine user on master or satellite backends.
