Private DH exponent disclosure via unsafe subgroup acceptance
Published Jan 27, 2026 · Updated Jan 27, 2026
Information disclosure in IX-Ray Engine 1.6 before 1.3 allows remote attackers to recover a reused private DH exponent. The bundled OpenSSL dh_check.c accepts unsafe DH parameters without verifying subgroup membership, enabling a small-subgroup attack across repeated handshakes. Exploitation requires multiple network handshakes that reuse the same exponent; the documented consequence is limited to confidentiality.
