Registry credential theft via redirected token authentication
Published Jan 29, 2026 · Updated Jan 29, 2026
Credential exposure in Chainguard malcontent 0.10.0 through 1.20.2 allows remote attackers to steal Docker registry credentials via OCI scans. The OCI pull path uses go-containerregistry's default Docker keychain and follows a malicious WWW-Authenticate token-service redirect with those credentials. Exploitation requires an operator or automated workflow to scan an attacker-controlled image reference, exposing credentials available to the local Docker keychain without modifying data or interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
