Remote service crash via malformed JSON memory leak
Published Jan 27, 2026 · Updated Jan 27, 2026
Memory leak in YDB 24.4.4.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash database servers by submitting malformed JSON. The contrib/libs/yajl yajl_tree_parse path retains a parse context, map value, and string allocated while processing invalid nested JSON. Network access to a server path that invokes the bundled parser is sufficient, and repeated parse failures exhaust memory until the YDB process terminates.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
