Boot interruption via unchecked regex parser fetch
Published Jan 27, 2026 · Updated Jan 27, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in CloverBootloader before 5162 allows local users to interrupt boot via a crafted regular expression. The bundled Oniguruma fetch_interval_quantifier() parser calls PFETCH twice without verifying that the parse cursor remains before PEND, causing a heap-buffer over-read. Reachability requires local influence over a regular expression processed in the pre-boot environment; the reported consequence is a service interrupt, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
