Destructive file operations via unquoted MSYS2-sensitive arguments
Published Jan 28, 2026 · Updated Jan 28, 2026
Argument injection in the Symfony Process component allows local users to delete unintended Windows paths through MSYS2 conversion. Process::escapeArgument omits equals signs and other MSYS2-sensitive characters from its special-character test, leaving affected path arguments unquoted before native Windows executables receive them. Exploitation requires PHP to run under an MSYS2-based shell, user-influenced process arguments, and a file-management command; argument corruption can redirect deletion to a broader directory or drive.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
