Stored JavaScript execution via unescaped evaluation JSON
Published Feb 20, 2026 · Updated Feb 20, 2026
Stored XSS in Google Vertex AI SDK for Python 1.98.0 through 1.130.0 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in Jupyter or Colab. The _get_evaluation_html, _get_comparison_html, and _get_inference_html helpers embed attacker-controlled JSON in inline script blocks without script-context escaping. Execution occurs when a victim renders evaluation results or dataset data containing a script-closing sequence, granting the injected JavaScript the notebook page's browser context.
