Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized hostname
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
OS command injection in Cisco RV130/RV130W 1.0.3.55 and RV110W 1.2.2.5/1.2.2.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The start_bonjour() function reads wan_hostname from NVRAM, inserts it unescaped into a Bonjour shell command, and passes the result to system(). Administrative access to change the hostname is required; injected shell metacharacters provide persistent root-level command execution across router reboots.
