Guest data disclosure via unfiltered search results
Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Mattermost allows remote authenticated users to read restricted channel posts and files through search APIs. SearchPostsForUser and SearchFilesInTeamForUser returned indexed results without applying HasPermissionToReadChannel to each result's channel. A guest account and a channel role lacking read-channel-content permission are required; exposure is limited to post and file confidentiality.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.11.0 <=10.11.10
- Affected versionversion=11.2.0 <=11.2.2
- Affected versionversion=11.3.0 <=11.3.0

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
