CVE-2026-24680Network attack vector

Client crash via double-free in SDL pointer cleanup

Published Feb 9, 2026 · Updated Feb 9, 2026

Use-after-free in FreeRDP before 3.22.0 allows remote attackers controlling an RDP server to crash SDL clients with a pointer update. When sdl_Pointer_New cannot copy server-supplied pointer data, it frees ptr->data without nulling it; update_pointer_new then reaches pointer_free and sdl_Pointer_Free frees the same allocation again. The client must connect to a malicious RDP server, and the documented consequence is a client crash, with heap corruption presenting environment-dependent code-execution risk.
